FUTA alumni honoured with Pastor Dr. D.K. Olukoya’s Academic Award of Excellence

Eighteen distinguished scholars and alumni from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) were honored alongside their peers from various institutions, all of whom graduated with First Class Honours.

This recognition took place during the 6th edition of the Pastor Dr. D.K. Olukoya’s Academic Award of Excellence, held as part of the 35th anniversary celebrations of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry International.

The event was held at the MFM International Convention Centre, Prayer City, situated along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

This year marked a significant milestone, with the highest number of award recipients since the program’s inception in 2010.

Pastor Dr. D.K. Olukoya addressed the congregation, highlighting the growth of the awards over the years.

He stated, “The Dr. DK Olukoya’s Academic Award of Excellence, which is one of my 70-point agenda to reach out to the youth, was focused on presenting car gifts to the beneficiaries but could not be sustained after two editions as the numbers grew exponentially.”

He reminisced about the first edition, which honored only 19 recipients with car gifts, and the second edition, which recognized 15 recipients who received brand new QQ3 and QQ6 cars along with certificates of honour.

The third edition saw a significant increase, with 77 recipients each awarded a cheque of N500,000 and certificates. By the fourth edition, the number of first-class graduates within the church membership surged to 106, with similar awards.

The following accomplished individuals were among the recipients, each achieving First Class Honors in their respective fields:

The event not only celebrated the achievements of over 492 exceptional students but also aimed to inspire future scholars to pursue excellence and uphold educational values.

The presentation ceremony was graced by notable figures, including Pastor Olukoya’s wife, Shade, and Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Lagos, Ogun, and Delta respectively.

In his closing remarks, Pastor Dr. D.K. Olukoya expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of the youth, stating, “Education is a cornerstone for success in society,” and encouraged the attendees to leverage the opportunities presented by the awards.
