Ghanaian Lady Breaks Record, Completes Residency in Urology

A Ghanaian lady, Dr. Denise A. Asafo-Adjei, has emerged the first black woman to complete a residency in urology at Columbia University.

Asafo-Adjei disclosed this in a recent post on her Instagram account.

Since the inception of Columbia University 266 years ago, no Black woman has been able to complete the program until now.

The doctor has taken another big step to commence her fellowship in andrology (Sexual Dysfunction and Male Infertility) at the University of California.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is a branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs.

Asafo-Adjei said, it took tremendous support from God, her parents, awesome siblings, family, fabulous friends, wonderful mentors, sponsors, and lover for her to attain this feat.

She added that every step of her journey has been full of hard work and countless sacrifices.
