In a major shake-up within the education sector, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has sacked all 21 Education Secretaries across the state’s Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs).

The announcement was made on Monday evening by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Yakubu Bala Tafida, in an official statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the statement, the dismissal of the education secretaries takes immediate effect.

Despite the sudden termination, the state government acknowledged the contributions of the affected officials to the development of education in their respective local government areas. The SSG expressed gratitude for their service and extended best wishes for their future endeavors.

While the government has not disclosed specific reasons for the mass dismissal, the move is believed to be part of ongoing reforms aimed at revamping the education sector in Kebbi State. It remains unclear whether new appointments will be made immediately or if an interim structure will be put in place to manage the affected offices.

Observers say this decision signals Governor Idris’s determination to restructure the education system, ensuring greater efficiency and accountability in the management of basic education across the state.
