Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, on the successful completion of his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the Emir as an “icon of excellence” and a role model whose contributions to scholarship, economic thought, family reform, and advocacy for social justice continue to inspire millions across Nigeria and beyond.
The governor commended the Emir’s lifelong dedication to education, reform, and public service, noting that his new academic feat is a “well-deserved recognition” of his impact on society. He prayed for Sanusi’s continued wisdom, good health, and long life, stressing that Kano and Nigeria still stand to benefit immensely from his knowledge and experience.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education. He announced that Kano State will enter into a partnership with the University of London to strengthen Northwest University, Kano.
According to him, the collaboration will focus on research, faculty development, and raising international academic standards, positioning the university to compete with leading institutions globally.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that education remains a central pillar of his administration’s agenda, key to securing the state’s development and future prosperity.
