Heirs Technologies empowers youth to stem tech talent drain in Nigeria

Heirs Technologies, a leading digital solutions company, has launched an ambitious initiative dubbed i-Academy aimed at empowering young tech enthusiasts to combat the growing challenge of tech-talent attrition in Nigeria.

The announcement came from the Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Technologies, Obong Idiong, during a press conference held on Wednesday in Lagos.

He outlined the company’s commitment to addressing the critical shortage of skilled technology professionals in the country.

The i-Academy initiative, a six-month training program, is designed to equip young tech enthusiasts with the necessary skills and knowledge required to kickstart successful careers in the technology sector. Unlike previous years, where only 30 youths were trained, Heirs Technologies plans to train 100 interns this year, significantly expanding its impact.

“Through our hybrid learning approach, participants will receive comprehensive training in front-end and back-end software development, coupled with essential soft skills,” stated Idiong, emphasizing the programme holistic approach to talent development.

A distinctive feature of the curriculum is its emphasis on real-world applications and projects, ensuring that interns gain practical experience in designing and implementing software solutions, both individually and collaboratively.

In addition to its focus on talent development, Heirs Technologies is actively engaged in community partnerships to address local needs. Idiong highlighted plans to offer basic training programs for employees and communities, underscoring the company’s commitment to driving positive social impact.

Furthermore, the company is championing local content development by exploring innovative strategies to substitute foreign solutions with indigenous alternatives.

Idiong cited the burgeoning fintech sector in Nigeria as a prime example, emphasizing Heirs Technologies’ dedication to pioneering solutions that add tangible value to businesses.

“We are not content with merely replicating existing offerings; our aim is to revolutionize the industry and empower local talent to thrive,” affirmed Idiong, underlining the company’s visionary approach to technology innovation.

Beyond talent development, Heirs Technologies offers comprehensive IT consulting services tailored to enhance operational efficiency for businesses. By leveraging its expertise, the company assists organizations in optimizing their IT infrastructure to achieve greater productivity and competitiveness in the digital age.

Heirs Technologies is not only shaping the future of technology in Nigeria but also fostering economic growth and social development through its multifaceted initiatives. With its unwavering commitment to empowering youth, driving innovation, and promoting local content, the company stands at the forefront of Nigeria’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.
