In Nigerian classrooms, the quality of teaching often determines the quality of learning. Yet, for decades, teachers have navigated outdated curricula, inconsistent training opportunities, and limited access to context-relevant teaching resources.

Now, a new partnership between GMind AI and the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) aims to change that using artificial intelligence not as a buzzword, but as a tool for pedagogical transformation.

From Teacher-Centred to Learner-Centred Classrooms

The GMind AITRCN platform is designed to shift lesson planning and delivery from rigid, one-size-fits-all approaches to adaptive, learner-Centred models.

Teachers will gain access to AI-generated lesson plans aligned to Nigerias national curriculum, enriched with culturally responsive content and simulation-based learning scenarios.

“We want AI-generated lesson plans that are contextualized for our children,” said TRCN Registrar Dr. Ronke Soyombo. “Every lesson will also be simulated, because 21st-century learners need to see and experience concepts for learning to be profound.”

Scaffolding Teacher Capacity

A central feature is the focus on teacher scaffolding, providing step-by-step support that enables educators to confidently integrate technology and active learning strategies into their classrooms.

The platforms offline-ready lesson downloads will ensure even teachers with low digital literacy or limited connectivity can access, adapt, and implement high-quality materials.

What convinced us was the GMind AI platforms ability to deliver resources that work in any context whether youre in a high-tech city school or a low-bandwidth rural community, Soyombo said. Thats the kind of infrastructure Nigeria needs to bridge its digital divide.

Building Master Trainers and Professional Learning Communities

The pilot phase, starting in Q4 2025, will prepare 2,500 master trainers in AI-powered pedagogy, who will, in turn, lead peer-learning cohorts across all six geopolitical zones. By Q1 2026, these trainers will have supported the professional development of over 100,000 teachers, embedding collaborative professional learning into Nigerias education system.

Q2Q3 2026 The platform achieves nationwide reach, giving access to all 1.5 million licensed teachers in Nigeria, with training scaled to 500,000 educators across all regions. All working towards improved student engagement, differentiated instruction, and formative assessment practices.

The platforms analytics will provide TRCN with real-time insight into teacher performance and learner progress, informing policy and curriculum adjustments based on actual classroom realities.

AI as an Educational Infrastructure

“GMind AI is not just an app ; its an AI-powered infrastructure for education,” said Dr. Deji Ajani, GMind AIs Director of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation. “We designed it to work with the realities of African classrooms, bridging infrastructural gaps and ensuring no teacher is left behind. Our goal is to embed intelligence and adaptability into the very backbone of education delivery.”

Towards Measurable Learning Gains

This isnt just about technology adoption; its about improving learning outcomes for millions of Nigerian children. By embedding AI into teacher professional development, the initiative aims to strengthen critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative skills in students, while giving teachers the confidence and tools to facilitate them.

Dr. Soyombo concluded, “Were not just deploying tech; were shaping the future of teaching and learning in Nigeria. As the Giant of Africa, this positions Nigeria to be at the forefront of AI for education improving learning outcomes for millions of students while empowering teachers for the classrooms of tomorrow.”

GMind AIs credibility in this space is underscored by its recent Award of Excellence in AI/Machine Learning at the Art of Technology Lagos 6.0. A recognition of its role in redefining what is possible in African education.
