The Niger State Government has approved the appointment of Professor Sulaiman Mohammed Hadi as the new Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai. The appointment, announced by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, takes effect from Monday, February 17, 2025.
According to the SSG, Professor Hadi’s selection was based on merit, impeccable character, extensive experience, and outstanding performance in the rigorous screening process conducted by the university’s Governing Council.
He is a distinguished academic from the Department of Veterinary Anatomy, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
In his statement, Usman emphasized the state government’s confidence in Professor Hadi’s ability to lead the institution effectively. “By virtue of your high-level engagements in the academia, we have no doubt you will bring your wealth of experience and administrative skills to bear in the discharge of your responsibilities,” he stated.
The new Vice Chancellor is expected to spearhead initiatives that will enhance affordable quality education, promote innovative research, and attract renowned scholars to transform IBB University into a globally recognized institution.
“The new Vice Chancellor is expected to develop a mechanism that will position the university to provide affordable quality education, conduct innovative research, and attract scholars to help transform the university into a world-class institution,” Usman added.
The appointment reaffirms the Bago-led administration’s commitment to academic excellence and the overall development of education in Niger State.
The government expressed optimism that under Professor Hadi’s leadership, IBB University will continue to thrive as a center of learning, research, and innovation.
