The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has commenced training on the use of Interactive e-Brochure and e-Syllabus System (IBASS) across the six geopolitical zone of the country.

The training, which has administrative staff of tertiary institutions in attendance including Vice Chancellors, Provosts and Rectors, was introduced in November 2022, as full automation of its administration and other communication processes.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday during the North Central training, the board registrar, Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede, who explained that “In the past, institutions had to travel down to JAMB office to brief it on the status of its programs and accreditation status, added that with the use of IBASS tertiary institutions would no longer have to come to the board for program accreditation or admission processes.”

Oloyede added that the new policy was part of effort to implement curriculum automation, accreditation and eliminate bureaucracy.

While announcing January 2023 as the commencement of the new policy, Oloyede noted that the board would no longer receive physical letter from any institution or agency except through IBASS.

“Communication between NUC, NBTE, NCCE on one hand and the institution on the other hand and in some cases with JMAB have been very chaotic and unnecessarily waste because the institution will have to come all the way from Maybe Port Harcourt or Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to say this programme has been accredited or introduced for us.”

The Provost, College of Education, Zuba, Dr Sule Mundi, commended the JAMB registrar for the good work and for his continued innovations towards the growth and development of education in the country.

He added, “You are really a reformer in JAMB, as you put every system in place to reduce to the barest minimum hardened corruption and ineptitude in the examination body.

The training on IBASS took place in University of Port Harcourt for the South South, University of Ibadan for the South West, ABU, Zaria for the North West, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for the North East as well as the UNN for South East.
