The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially scheduled Saturday, 28 June 2025, for the conduct of the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across Nigeria.
In a statement released on Sunday by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board announced that all candidates eligible for the mop-up exercise should begin printing their examination notification slips starting Monday, 23 June 2025.
These slips will contain critical information including exam centres and time of examination.
According to JAMB, a total of 96,838 candidates are expected to sit the mop-up exam in 183 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. Of this number, 5,096 candidates had earlier failed biometric verification during the main exam, while 91,742 were absent during both the original and rescheduled UTME.
“Eligible and genuine candidates are advised to print their examination notification slips from Monday, 23 June 2025, in preparation for the mop-up examination scheduled for Saturday, 28 June 2025,” the board advised.
The first session of the mop-up examination will commence at 8:00 a.m., and candidates scheduled for that time are urged to arrive at least one to one and a half hours early. “Candidates for the 8:00 a.m. session are therefore advised in their own interest to arrive one or one and a half hours before the actual commencement of the examination,” the statement read.
This year’s UTME exercise recorded over two million registered candidates, with more than 1.9 million already examined.
The need for a mop-up exercise arose after technical issues marred the results of the April UTME, prompting a rescheduled exam in May for over 300,000 candidates. The glitches were traced to 65 CBT centres in Lagos and 92 others across Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu States.
JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, had previously acknowledged the errors, tendered an apology, and pledged to ensure all affected candidates are given a fair chance to sit for the exam under proper conditions.
