The Lagos State government has divided the Ministry of Education into two ministries, renames Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs to Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development.
In a memo, on Wednesday, addressed to Ministries departments and agencies of Lagos State government, the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said that office of Special Adviser on Education has been upgraded to Ministry of Tertiary Education while for Ministry of Education has been designated as Ministry of Basic Education.
Also office of Civic Engagement has been divided into Office of Civic Engagement and Political and Legislative Bureau. This is just as Central Internal Audit Department has been upgraded to Office of Internal Audit.
In the memo titled change of nomenclature of government offices, re-introduction of political and legislative bureau and office of rural development, Muri-Okunola stated that in view of the need to restructure government’s Ministries, Agencies and Departments for improved performance and effective service delivery in the state, it is hereby notified for general information that the following government MDAs: Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs; Office of Special Adviser on Education and Ministry of Education have been restructured and renamed.
