The Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, has taken a bold step into digital education with the official launch of the TETFund Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS), positioning itself among the first tertiary institutions in Nigeria to fully deploy the world-class platform.
The milestone, unveiled at the College’s Kafanchan Campus, marks a major leap in efforts to transform teaching and learning in Nigerian higher education. The initiative is part of the TETFund-backed project to standardise teaching methods and align Nigerian institutions with global best practices.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nicolas Alboouze, Vice President for Middle East and Africa at Anthology, described the project as a turning point for education in the country:
“Today, we are not just talking about change, we are initiating a vision. We are planting a seed that will grow into a harvest of knowledge, opportunity, and transformation. The TETFund Blackboard Learning Management System is a bridge from the old way of learning to a new era where no student is left behind, no lecturer is left unsupported, and no dream is out of reach. From today, the classroom is no longer a room — it is wherever you are, whenever you are ready to learn. It is in your hands, on the screen, and in your heart.”
The School of Secondary Education – Vocational and Technical Education, Kafanchan, was chosen as the pilot site for the digital rollout. The event brought together academic leaders, ICT directors, and representatives from Pole Global Marketing (PGM), the official implementing partner for Anthology Blackboard in Nigeria.
The Kaduna College launches TETFund Blackboard LMS project introduces Anthology’s Blackboard Learn system, widely regarded as the world’s leading EdTech solution. The platform will create a more interactive learning experience, giving students direct access to global resources and enabling lecturers to deliver classes beyond physical boundaries.
With this initiative, Nigerian tertiary institutions are being nudged toward a digital-first future, where online learning is no longer a luxury but a standard.
