The Kano State Government has approved over ₦8.2 billion for key infrastructure projects aimed at revitalizing the education and water supply sectors across the state.

Announcing the development after the 33rd State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the government said the initiative reflects its commitment to improving learning standards and ensuring equitable access to essential public utilities. “These projects are designed to boost infrastructure, enhance learning standards, and increase access to quality education,” the statement read.

According to the breakdown, about ₦4.9 billion will go into the education sector. The allocation covers the renovation of Government Technical College, Ungogo, settlement of debts owed to boarding schools’ feeding suppliers, and the production of instructional materials for schools across the state.

It also includes the completion and furnishing of the e-library at the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies, as well as accreditation exercises at Kano State Polytechnic.

The government further disclosed that funds were approved for the procurement of office furniture and fittings at North-West University, Kano, to improve the working environment for staff and students.

In the water and energy sectors, ₦3.3 billion has been earmarked for projects such as the construction of a new water treatment plant in Rano Local Government Area, and payment for electricity and fuel supplies to the Kano State Water Board. The government said the move is part of efforts to ensure consistent water supply and address energy needs across treatment facilities.
