The Kano State Government, on Wednesday, embarked on a project to fabricate 50,000 classroom desks and other school furniture, towards creating a conducive learning environment for students.
The project was part of the government’s broader commitment to the reduction of the large army of out-of-school children in the state.
Governor Abba Yusuf, during a supervisory visit to the fabrication site, expressed satisfaction with the level of progress and commended the workers for their efforts.
“I’m confident that the provision of infrastructure will add value to the education sector. Besides, I’m also optimistic that the project will provide an opportunity to engage young people in productive work to improve the economy,” he said.
Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring quality and affordable education for all in Kano, adding that the initiative was a step towards achieving the goal.
“The production of basic and essential furniture will help contribute to the basic standards of habitability in schools, as well as the creation of a better learning environment for students,” the governor said.
