The Kwara State Government has inaugurated a high-powered committee to curb student loitering and address lateness among teachers in public schools, in a renewed bid to restore discipline and boost educational outcomes across the state.
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development in Ilorin, Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, emphasized that the move aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s revamp agenda.
“The objectives of this Committee are to restore discipline and sanity in our schools,” he said.
“I urge you to carry out your duties with the fear of God. Avoid power tussles and work together as a team to eliminate student loitering and improve teacher punctuality and attendance.”
Supporting the initiative, the Executive Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Tahueed Bello, and SUBEB Chairman, Professor Sheu Adaramaja, pledged their full cooperation, stressing that the Committee’s work supports the Governor’s goal of “transforming the child of nobody into somebody.”
The event was attended by top officials from the Ministry, TESCOM, and SUBEB.
