The Kwara State Government has trained 5,606 public secondary school students across 50 schools between 2024 and 2025 as part of efforts to boost digital literacy and technological innovation among young people in the state.
Over 120 instructors, including National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, digital volunteers, and ICT teachers, were engaged in the training initiative, which focused on equipping students with practical digital skills for future career opportunities.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering young tech enthusiasts and positioning Kwara State as a hub for technological innovation.
He expressed satisfaction with the growing interest of young “Kwarans” in technology, especially at the recently concluded Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme, themed “Kwara Futures: Empowering a Digitally Ready Generation.”
“We are determined to put Kwara on the global map by creating seamless pathways for collaboration from international tech accelerators to cross-border funding opportunities,” the governor said.
The digital literacy initiative, coordinated by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovation, Kayode Ishola, is part of a broader strategy to align Kwara’s education system with the demands of the global digital economy.
Officials say the programme’s success underscores the government’s vision to prepare a generation of digitally skilled youths capable of contributing to Nigeria’s emerging tech ecosystem.
