KWASU among elite institutions for ICT Experience Centre initiative

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has been selected as one of six prestigious pilot universities for the establishment of ICT Experience Centres, a groundbreaking initiative by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the Office of the First Lady.

This project, part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to revolutionize technological education in Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions.

In a letter addressed to KWASU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and signed by TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Architect Sonny S.T. Echono, the selection of KWASU was officially confirmed.

The initiative is a collaborative effort with the Federal Ministries of Education, Communication, Technology, and Digital Economy under the Learn to Earn Programme.

The ICT Experience Centres are designed to equip undergraduates with the skills, infrastructure, and mindset required to excel in today’s digital economy. This pilot phase will see the establishment of one centre in each geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh expressed his elation at KWASU’s selection, highlighting it as a testament to the university’s strategic role in training individuals poised to contribute to national development in the 21st century.

This initiative marks a significant step towards empowering students and transforming educational institutions across Nigeria.
