“A Scholar with Passion for Literature and Excellence,” says VC
The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has announced the appointment of Dr. Reuben Kehinde Akano, an Associate Professor of Literature in the Department of English, as the Acting Director of General Studies.
Dr. Akano, a seasoned academic with a strong background in literature and education, joined the University in August 2013.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A. Ed.) in English from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, as well as a Master of Arts (M.A.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Literature from the University of Ilorin.
Prior to his new appointment, Dr. Akano served as the Director of the Centre for Affiliation and Linkages.
He is also actively involved in academic and co-curricular initiatives within the university, serving as a member of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Literature in Northern Nigeria Conference and as a staff member of the University Debating Championship.
In announcing the appointment, the Vice-Chancellor praised Dr. Akano’s academic dedication and institutional contributions, describing him as “a scholar with passion for literature and excellence.”
Dr. Akano is expected to bring fresh energy and leadership to the General Studies Directorate, fostering interdisciplinary learning and upholding the university’s tradition of academic distinction. His appointment takes immediate effect.
