The Governing Council of Kwara State University has officially confirmed the appointments of Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba and Professor Olubukola Christianah Dada as Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
This decision was made during the 70th special meeting held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Professor Jimba, taking on the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration, has a rich history with the institution, having joined in 2012. Prior to his new appointment, he served as the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, showcasing his leadership capabilities in various roles including Head of Department, Director of the Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts, and Dean of Student Affairs.
In addition to his academic contributions, Professor Jimba has been actively involved in state educational initiatives, having served as the Chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board and currently holding the position of Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, appointed by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in 2023.
On the academic front, Professor Dada will assume the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics. A distinguished Professor of Intellectual and Developmental Disability in the Department of Special Education, she has been with Kwara State University since 2014. Her extensive experience includes critical positions such as Director of the Undergraduate Research Center, Deputy Director of KWASU Press and Publishing, and Director of the Centre for Disability Support. Her commitment to educational excellence and support for students with disabilities has been particularly noteworthy.
Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the Acting Director of University Relations, expressed optimism about the new appointments, highlighting the potential for positive changes in the university’s administration and academic environment.
