Lagos school holds cholera awareness campaign

The Masterguide College, Egbeda, Lagos, has embarked on a campaign to raise public awareness about the current cholera outbreak in Nigeria.

A statement by the school revealed that Masterguide College chose awareness about the disease as the theme for this year’s community outreach.

The Proprietress of Masterguide Schools, Mrs Ngozi Ogbonna, said corporate social responsibility had always been an integral part of the institution’s focus.

She expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic response to this year’s event.

“I am happy that pupils from the primary section and students in the college, as well as their teachers and all our staff, did not show any reluctance.

“They all walked for almost two hours around the major streets of our immediate environment and through key spots in Egbeda to spread information about the dangers of cholera,” she said.

Ogbonna added that it was a great sight to behold, as almost everyone in both sections of the school trooped out to share leaflets about the causes, prevention, symptoms, and treatment of cholera.

“They also displayed two bold banners depicting their mission, plus an accompanying public address system used to vocally educate the public about the infectious disease,” she said.
