In an official statement signed by Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Placement Test is designed for Primary Six pupils in both public and approved private primary schools across Lagos State. The test serves as a vital requirement for the transition of pupils to Government Junior Secondary Schools.
According to Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite, “School representatives are expected to accompany their pupils to the designated examination centers across the State.” She further emphasized the importance of cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure that every eligible pupil successfully participates in the assessment.
She added, “The Ministry remains committed to the ‘Leave No Child Behind’ principle. The Placement Test, using Continuous Assessment Scores (CAS) and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets, provides a fair and objective evaluation of pupils’ cognitive abilities.”
The Permanent Secretary also urged all candidates to take the test seriously and prepare adequately, noting its significance in their academic progression.
In conclusion, the Ministry expressed appreciation to parents, guardians, and school administrators for their unwavering support in fostering a smooth and effective learning environment for pupils across the state.
