The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has officially presented appointment letters to 448 newly recruited post-primary school teachers, marking a significant step in bolstering the state’s educational workforce.
Addressing the successful applicants, the Chairman of TESCOM, Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, emphasized the importance of dedication and continuous professional development.
Represented by the Director of Teachers Education and Capacity Development, Mrs. Abidemi Aloba, Mrs. Peregrino congratulated the recruits for successfully navigating the rigorous recruitment process.
She urged them to familiarize themselves with their students’ strengths and challenges, and to incorporate creativity and innovation into their teaching practices.
Mrs. Peregrino encouraged the new teachers to treat their students with care, akin to their own children, and to embrace continuous learning to enhance their teaching skills. She highlighted the importance of integrating technology into teaching methodologies and adopting effective, non-violent disciplinary measures. Additionally, she advised the teachers on the significance of professional attire, urging them to approach their roles with diligence and hard work.
The Chairman concluded by encouraging the teachers to remain dedicated to their duties and to maintain punctuality in their classrooms. The newly recruited teachers will be deployed across the six education districts of Lagos State, aiming to strengthen the quality of education in the region.
