Lagos to Promote Secondary School Teachers

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to promote 4,942 secondary school teachers.

This was disclosed on Thursday 26th March, 2020 by the Chairman, Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo.

Mrs Olabisi stated that the exercise would begin with a structured training programme (STP), a generic and professional programme for all categories of eligible officers between Grade levels 06 and 17.

She added that the exercise would be handled by the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre (TSSDC) situated at Owutu, Ikorodu Lagos.

She noted that the programme would hold at three other designated centres: New Era (Senior & Junior) Secondary School, Surulere; Ikeja (Senior) Secondary School, Oshodi; Awori Ajeromi (Senior) Secondary School, Agboju.

“Eligible candidates for the promotion have been assigned to centres closest to their education districts,” Mrs. Olabisi stated.

Commenting on the programme, the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mrs. Toyin Idowu Awoseyi, noted that it was mandatory for all eligible officers, irrespective of their grade levels to pass through the STP.

“The commission will not hesitate to disqualify officers found to be involved in any act of misconduct in form of lateness or absenteeism as appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against such officer,” she said.

“Promotion eligibility identification slips have been confirmed and forwarded to the education districts for distribution to officers accordingly,” she added.
