The Lagos State Government has launched a state-of-the-art Digital Teaching Hub aimed at empowering teachers and students while revolutionizing the public school system through technology.
The initiative, which was unveiled on Wednesday during a facility tour with journalists, is located at the Education Resource Centre in Ojodu and is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and tech-solution company, WALURE.
Speaking during the unveiling, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Tolani Alli-Balogun, described the hub as a “transformative tool” that will enhance both teaching and learning outcomes across Lagos public schools.
“This is more than just a facility; it’s a platform for direct interaction between students and educators. It also provides opportunities for capacity building, mentorship, and timely subject-based learning,” she said.
The Digital Teaching Hub is equipped with cutting-edge tools that support both live-streamed and pre-recorded educational content. These can be accessed online and via popular social media platforms such as Instagram, extending the reach of quality education beyond the traditional classroom.
“Education is the future, and ICT is the vehicle driving it,” Alli-Balogun noted. “With this initiative, our students will enjoy real-life learning experiences, access to quality digital content, and one-on-one engagement with educators.”
The state government, she affirmed, remains fully committed to maintaining and expanding the project to benefit more schools and communities.
Also speaking, Obafemi Okunbanjo, General Manager of WALURE, highlighted the hub as a symbol of effective public-private partnership and a strategic response to the demands of digital learning. “The project is designed to bridge the gap between traditional teaching and the realities of a digital age. It will make a tangible difference in the lives of our teachers and students and have a lasting impact on academic performance,” he said.
The launch marks a significant milestone in Lagos State’s drive to integrate innovation into the education sector and ensure that no student is left behind in the digital era.
