LASU celebrates ten first-class graduates at 2025 Call to Bar Ceremony

Lagos State University (LASU) has once again demonstrated its academic excellence on the national stage, as ten of its Law graduates emerged with First-Class honours at the 2025 Nigerian Law School Call to Bar Ceremony held in Abuja.

The outstanding graduates are: Lawal Maryam Abiodun, Makanjuola Mariam Amoke, Ashimi Temitope Mary, Adebowale Ayo Balikis, Adekoya Kanyinsola, Habeeb Oluwadamilola Zainab, Owodina Silifat Mojisola, Okunowo Adesewa Esther, Onyekere Favour-Divine Nzube, and Akanegbu Osinachi. Their remarkable performance reaffirms LASU’s status as one of Nigeria’s top institutions for legal education.

Among the ten, Lawal Maryam Abiodun, a graduate of Common and Islamic Law, emerged as a standout figure. She was named the Second Overall Best Graduating Student out of a total of 7,134 students and also received the award for Best Graduating Female Student of the Year. Her exceptional feat earned her wide recognition and applause during the ceremony, placing her at the forefront of the celebration.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, expressed immense pride in the graduates’ accomplishments.
He said: “These students have proven themselves to be worthy ambassadors of LASU. Their diligence, discipline, and academic achievements have brought pride to the university. I encourage all current and future students to emulate their spirit and strive for excellence.”

In an official congratulatory statement, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, lauded the dedication of both the students and the academic staff of the Faculty of Law.
She stated: “These awards are a testament to the strength of LASU’s academic training and the dedication of our students and faculty. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our legal stars and also commend the Dean and our hardworking Law lecturers for their relentless commitment to building excellent scholars and legal professionals.”

She further urged all LASU Law students to remain focused, continue working hard, and uphold the university’s legacy of academic distinction.

The impressive performance of LASU graduates at the Nigerian Law School reinforces the institution’s growing reputation for nurturing world-class legal minds and contributing significantly to the legal profession in Nigeria and beyond.
