The family of Mrs. Olayemi Bajomo, the former Bursar of Lagos State University, Ojo, has announced the funeral arrangements following her passing on March 28, 2025, at the age of 78.
In a statement made available to US on
Wednesday, the family described the late Bajomo as “a devout Christian who loved God passionately.”
According to the family, the burial activities will begin on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, with a session of tributes and commendations at 4:00 pm, followed by a Christian wake at 5:00 pm.
Both events will take place at the First African Church, located at 5 Oyingbo Road, Ebute Metta.
The funeral rites will continue on Thursday, May 1, 2025, with a lying-in-state at 8:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am, also at the same venue.
Bajomo, born on January 15, 1947, began her education at Ago Ijaiye Primary School in Ebute Metta before proceeding to Methodist Girls’ High School in Yaba.
She excelled both academically and in sports at MGHS, particularly in sprint events, winning numerous medals and representing the school in various competitions.
She later studied Accountancy at Yaba College of Technology, where she earned a National Diploma.
Upon graduation, the late Bajomo began her professional career at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.
She later served at the Nigerian Institute for Medical Research, Yaba, before joining Lagos State University in 1983.
Her career at LASU was marked by diligence and distinction, culminating in her appointment as University Bursar in November 2000. She retired from public service in 2005.
