The Registrar of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr. Emmanuel Fanu, has praised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, for her visionary and welfarist leadership, describing her as a compassionate and transformational leader.
Fanu gave the commendation while delivering the keynote address at the 2025 One-Day In-House Training of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), LASU Chapter, held at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, LASU Main Campus, Ojo.
The training, themed “Bridging the Gap of University Needs: An Administrator on Call,” focused on enhancing professionalism and ethical rebirth within the university system.
Fanu lauded Olatunji-Bello for approving the long-awaited promotion of non-academic staff previously stagnated at Level 14 to Level 15, describing it as “a testament to her belief that human capital is LASU’s most valuable asset.”
“The Vice-Chancellor has again proven that leadership is not just about policies but about people. By approving the promotion of officers who had been stuck for years, she has restored hope and demonstrated fairness — the pillars of true university governance,” he said.
The Registrar noted that the gesture aligns with the VC’s Welfarism Mission, one of her six strategic goals prioritizing staff well-being, motivation, and professional growth. He urged university administrators to uphold professionalism, loyalty, and continuous learning, stressing that LASU’s global competitiveness depends on “ethical service and collective excellence.”
“We must see ourselves not just as bureaucrats, but as partners in policy and progress,” he charged.
Earlier, Mr. Samuel Otesanya, ANUPA-LASU Chairman and Deputy Registrar, Academic Staff Establishment, commended the VC for her consistent support toward administrative development. He said the training reinforces ANUPA’s commitment to continuous learning in an evolving university system.
The event featured lectures by top administrators and legal experts, including Mr. Olugbenga Sadiku, Dr. Kasim Bada, Mrs. Olajumoke Boyejo, and Mrs. Iyabode Yusuf, who all emphasized ethics, diversity, mentorship, and innovation as tools for institutional excellence.
At the close of the session, participants resolved that the “redemption of Nigeria’s university system will not come merely through infrastructure, but through the character, competence, and conscience of its administrators.”
As LASU continues its transformation drive under Prof. Olatunji-Bello’s leadership, staff pledged renewed dedication to professionalism, integrity, and ethical rebirth in service to the university.
