The Senate of Lagos State University (LASU) has elected Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the institution.
The election, held on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, saw Professor Enikuomehin, a Professor of Computer Science, emerge victorious after polling 206 votes to defeat his contender, Professor Ishmael Omah of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences, who received 4 votes.
Professor Enikuomehin currently serves as the Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) of LASU. He will succeed Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo, whose two-term tenure of four years ends on Saturday, 11th October 2025.
The election outcome is subject to ratification by the Governing Council of the University, after which the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration)-elect is expected to assume office on Sunday, 12th October 2025.

Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin is a distinguished academic, technology leader, and researcher renowned for his expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and ICT Policy Development.
A Prince from the Enikuomehin Royal Family of Okitipupa in Ondo State, Professor Enikuomehin combines academic excellence with visionary leadership and a lifelong passion for digital innovation.
He joined Lagos State University in 2006 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, and has since risen through the ranks to become a Professor of Computer Science.
He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics (Computer Science Option, 2001), M.Sc. in Mathematics with Computer Science (2005), and Ph.D. in Computer Science (2012) — all from the University of Ilorin. In 2012, he undertook advanced research at the University of Lorraine (formerly Nancy 2 University), France, specialising in Intelligent Systems and Computational Analysis.
His international academic exposure spans several renowned institutions, including the University of Houston, Texas (USA); City University of London (UK); and the University of Rwanda. He also served as a Visiting Professor at Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (USA), contributing to research collaborations in Artificial Intelligence and ICT for Education.
Since joining LASU, Professor Enikuomehin has played a pivotal role in the university’s digital transformation — leading initiatives in ICT innovation, e-governance, and data-driven decision-making. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence applications, data analytics, web services integration, and smart governance. He has developed several AI-based models for optimisation and adaptive reasoning, bridging the gap between academic research and practical technological solutions.
A respected university administrator and policy strategist, he has chaired and served on several key committees, including those on ICT Policy Development, Results Digitalisation, and University Digital Transformation. His leadership style is participatory, evidence-based, and data-driven, promoting transparency, efficiency, and institutional resilience.
Professor Enikuomehin is a Member of the LASU Governing Council and the Court of Governors of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), where he contributes to strategic decision-making and academic reforms.
Beyond LASU, he serves as a Resource Expert to the National Universities Commission (NUC) on Artificial Intelligence Curriculum Design, helping develop national academic frameworks for the digital economy. He is also a Visiting ICT Consultant to the University of Sierra Leone and provides advisory services to several institutions on AI policy and digital transformation.
With over 90 scholarly publications in reputable journals worldwide, Professor Enikuomehin is recognised as a thought leader in AI for Governance, Digital Inclusion, and ICT-Driven Institutional Transformation. His vision is to create a digitally intelligent governance ecosystem, where Artificial Intelligence and ethical innovation drive transparency, efficiency, and inclusive development in Africa.
