A final-year student of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr. Malik Olalekan Olabiyi, has emerged First Runner-Up in the prestigious Don Etiebet Award for the Best Computer Science Project in Lagos State for the Year 2025.
Olabiyi, a student of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, earned the recognition for his project titled “Development of an AI-Driven Shared Delivery App for an Efficient and Cost-Effective Logistics System.”
The project, supervised by Dr. Adam Zubair, was praised by judges for its innovative use of Artificial Intelligence to optimize logistics operations and reduce delivery costs — a solution with strong real-world applicability.
The award presentation took place on Thursday, 30th October 2025, during the Annual IT Summit of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). The Don Etiebet Award, a highly competitive annual initiative of the NCS, honours exceptional undergraduate research projects in Computer Science across Nigerian universities.
The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology commended Olabiyi’s feat and expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, for her consistent encouragement and unwavering support for innovation and academic excellence.
The university described the achievement as another testament to LASU’s growing reputation as a hub for technology-driven research and development.
