LASU unveils ‘LASU Water’ to enhance health, boost revenue

Lagos State University (LASU) has officially launched “LASU Water,” a branded water product that promises both quality and convenience.

The grand opening of the LASU Water Manufacturing Plant was led by David Sunmoni, the Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the Lagos State University Governing Council.

The event marked the initiation of commercial production for LASU Water, available in various packages including the 75cl bottle, 50cl bottle, and sachet water.

Sunmoni, expressing his enthusiasm during the unveiling, emphasized the positive impact this venture would have on the university’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the well-being of the university community.

He lauded the initiative as a commendable development and assured continuous support from the Governing Council for progressive endeavours.

In attendance was the Vice Chancellor, Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, who asserted that LASU Water is a high-quality product approved by regulatory agencies, produced under stringent hygienic standards.

Olatunji-Bello highlighted the strategic vision behind LASU Water, likening it to the success of the LASU Bakery. She encouraged all members of the university community to embrace and support this new addition to LASU Ventures.

Taiwo Oseni Afisi, Director of the Lagos State University Directorate of Special Interventions, shed light on the collaborative effort that brought LASU Water to fruition.

He revealed that the business kick-started with equipment donated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and was completed using the university’s IGR.

Afisi expressed gratitude to TETFund for their contribution and announced that the manufacturing plant would be handed over to the Lagos State University Ventures for management.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including plastic bottle manufacturing equipment and water treatment facilities, the LASU Water Manufacturing Plant stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence.

The acquisition of delivery vehicles further ensures seamless distribution of the product, marking a refreshing chapter in LASU’s journey towards improved financial sustainability and community well-being.
