The Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Hakeem Shittu, has called on public school teachers across the state to continue upholding high standards in the discharge of their duties.
Shittu made this appeal on Monday during an unscheduled visit to several state-owned primary schools, marking the resumption of the new academic term.
Accompanied by top officials of the board, he toured schools in multiple local government areas, where he engaged directly with pupils, teachers, and school administrators.
The visit was aimed at assessing schools’ readiness for the new term, monitoring student turnout, inspecting available facilities, and reaffirming the government’s commitment to delivering quality education.
During the visit, Shittu stressed the importance of maintaining discipline, punctuality, and a conducive learning environment.
He commended schools with strong preparedness and urged others with noticeable gaps to address them promptly.
“We must continue to uphold the highest standards in our public primary schools,” he said.
Shittu added, “Today’s visit is not only to inspect but also to encourage both our teachers and pupils to embrace the new term with renewed energy and commitment.”
Reiterating the Lagos State Government’s commitment to supporting education, Shittu assured that teachers would benefit from continuous training, improved infrastructure, and better learning resources.
He also pledged that the board would remain focused on ensuring the safety, welfare, and academic excellence of all pupils across the state.
Among the schools visited were Military Cantonment Primary School, Military Primary School, Army Children School, Army Barracks, Army Model School, Nine Brigade Primary School, and Brigade Primary School, all located within the Ikeja Cantonment under the Ikeja Local Government Education Authority.
