The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Academy has organized an enlightening visit for its summer school programme, “Trash to Treasure.”
Led by Bola Adewunmi, the Head of LAWMA Academy, a group of enthusiastic students toured Alkem Nigeria Limited, a prominent facility specializing in plastic waste recycling.
The primary goal of this educational excursion was to raise awareness among the young learners about the dangers associated with single-use plastics and to illustrate the vital processes involved in recycling.
During the tour, Gbenga, the Admin Officer at Alkem, provided valuable insights into the recycling procedures, particularly focusing on how single-use plastic bottles are transformed into reusable materials.
This hands-on experience not only equipped the pupils with knowledge about environmental sustainability but also inspired them to think critically about waste management and their role in protecting the planet.
