Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed distinguished development economist and innovation expert, Professor Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi.

Makinde said the move aligns with his administration’s drive to strengthen leadership in tertiary institutions and enhance the delivery of quality healthcare and medical education across the state.

“You are expected to discharge your duties with dedication and loyalty to the state,” the governor stated in the appointment letter, emphasizing that the council’s role is crucial to ongoing reforms in Oyo’s education and health sectors.

Renowned for his extensive work on industrial and innovation policies across Africa and Asia, the professor has advised governments and institutions on sustainable development strategies. His appointment is widely seen as a step toward integrating global best practices into Oyo State’s medical and academic management systems.
