Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has once again demonstrated his commitment to transformative education in Enugu State with the approval of ₦30 million for the training and upskilling of 1,000 teachers under the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB).
Slated for August 2025 at the Enugu State College of Education (Technical), ESCET, the capacity-building workshop is part of the state’s ambitious *Train-the-Trainers* programme. This initiative is a flagship component of the Mbah administration’s education reform blueprint, designed to reshape learning across technical institutions by empowering educators with modern teaching techniques and practical, industry-relevant skills.
Announcing the development during an emergency management meeting at the STVSMB headquarters, the board’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Amaka Ngene, described the intervention as a “game-changer,” noting that it aligns with the administration’s disruptive vision for education in the state.
“This training is a game-changer,” she declared. “Our goal is to ensure that the teachers shaping the minds and skills of tomorrow’s workforce are equipped with the latest methods, tools, and innovations. All departments must finalize preparations immediately to kick off without delay.”
The workshop will centre on critical focus areas, including technical pedagogy, curriculum modernization for STEM and TVET disciplines, digital literacy and smart classroom integration, innovations in skills development, and effective safety and workshop management protocols.
By design, the *Train-the-Trainers* programme will produce a network of Master Teachers who will further cascade their acquired knowledge across hundreds of science and technical colleges throughout Enugu State—ensuring wide-reaching and sustainable impact.
This intervention is the latest milestone under Governor Mbah’s “Disruptive Education Agenda,” a series of bold reforms that have already introduced Smart Green Schools, a professional teacher categorization system, a unified education data management platform, and digital literacy initiatives targeting both students and educators.
“This is not just training; it is a statewide strategy to make our vocational education system globally competitive,” Dr. Ngene added, while commending Governor Mbah for his visionary leadership and unwavering investment in human capital.
To ensure seamless execution, all departments within STVSMB have been directed to conclude logistics and participant coordination without delay. Details regarding training schedules and facilitation are expected to be released in the coming days, as Enugu State moves steadily towards reshaping the future of its vocational and technical education landscape.
