Ministers, stakeholders praise President Tinubu’s 2024 education budget

Education Minister, Tahir Mamman, PhD, and Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, PhD, have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ambitious 2024 budget proposal dedicated to the education sector.

Speaking at a Two-Day retreat for Education stakeholders in Uyo, the ministers praised the President for prioritising education, hailing it as a significant improvement over previous years.

Tahir Mamman emphasised the unity between the Presidency and the National Assembly in addressing the country’s challenges, asserting that this administration is unstoppable.

He acknowledged past efforts in education development but stressed the need for continued focus on infrastructural development, teacher quality, institution security, and access to quality education, particularly for vulnerable groups.

Expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s commitment, Prof. Mamman urged collective efforts to ensure Nigeria’s prominence globally. He specifically called on Heads of Parastatals and Agencies to enhance education delivery, appealing to State Governors for collaboration with the Federal government.

In his welcome address, Yusuf Tanko Sununu highlighted the 2024 budget as evidence of President Tinubu’s dedication to improving education for enhanced livelihoods and economic outcomes.

He praised stakeholders for their efforts in developing the 2024-2027 Roadmap and emphasised the retreat’s role in driving timely and effective implementation.

Sununu urged stakeholder buy-in, particularly from the states, to ensure the Roadmap’s success.

Participants at the retreat, including Directors in the Federal Ministry of Education, Chief Executives of Education parastatals, and Commissioners of Education from across the states, agreed on clear objectives, responsibilities, and timelines for achieving set goals.
