MTN increases scholarship awards for Nigerian students in 2024

MTN Nigeria has announced an increase in its Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) program, benefiting 300 level students in Science and Technology-related courses across Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions.

Since its inception in 2010, the program has supported numerous students, and starting in 2024, the annual scholarship award has been raised from N200,000 to N300,000, continuing until graduation, provided students maintain the required academic standards.

Eligibility:
The eligibility criteria for the MTN STS require applicants to be 300 level students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions, including Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education, enrolled in Science and Technology-related courses.

Furthermore, the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) has expanded, now accommodating up to 100 students, up from the previous 60. The annual award for blind students has also increased to N300,000. The required Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for STEM students in Universities and Colleges of Education is a minimum of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5, while those in Polytechnics must have at least a 3.0 CGPA from their Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.

The MTN SBS is open to 200 and 300 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions. However, for blind law students, who are in a five-year course, only those in their 300 level are eligible to apply. The required CGPA for blind students in Universities or Colleges of Education is a minimum of 2.5, and for those in Polytechnics, it is 2.0 from the OND program, with a requirement to have secured admission into the HND program.

Application process:
Eligible students can apply online through the MTN Foundation’s scholarship portal. Applicants need to provide proof of admission into their respective programs, academic transcripts showing their CGPA, and a valid means of identification on the official website. Additionally, blind students must submit a medical report confirming their visual impairment.

Application deadline: June 30, 2024.
