MTU VC urges integration of technology for sustainable solutions

Prof Elijah Ayolabi, Vice-Chancellor of Mountain Top University (MTU), has emphasised the pivotal role of digital innovations in driving sustainable progress.

Addressing participants at an international conference hosted by MTU’s College of Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences, Ayolabi underscored the transformative potential of technology amidst global challenges.

Themed ‘Initiating Innovation in Digitality through Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences for Sustainable Development,’ the conference aimed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

Ayolabi advocated for harnessing Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and data analytics to enhance efficiency, transparency, and sustainability across sectors.

“Diving into digital innovations for sustainable development is imperative in today’s world,” Ayolabi stated. “It is our collective responsibility to leverage digital technology for a more equitable and prosperous future.”

Bayo Olugbemi, Managing Director/CEO of FIRST Registrars and Investors Services Limited, echoed Ayolabi’s sentiments in his presentation on digital technology’s role in investment for sustainable development.

He stated the need for adaptable strategies tailored to the unique dynamics of evolving nations.

Highlighting the broader significance of the conference, Prof. Babatunde Oni, Dean of MTU’s College of Humanities Management and Social Sciences, emphasized its role in charting a course towards societal fulfillment.

Patience Erigbe, Chair of the Local Organising Committee and Acting Director of MTU’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, reaffirmed the mission of the conference to cultivate ideas that address national challenges comprehensively.

The event concluded with a consensus on the urgency of integrating digital innovations into Nigeria’s development agenda, marking a pivotal step towards sustainable progress.
