The Nigerian Air Force Research and Development Institute (AFRDI), Osogbo, in partnership with the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), successfully hosted the maiden Osun Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Machine Learning (ML) for Educators.

Held at NAF Officer’s Mess, Osogbo with the theme “Introduction to AI and Machine Learning for Educators,” the event brought together teachers, students from different schools, and education stakeholders in Osun to explore the fundamentals, applications, and ethical dimensions of AI in today’s learning environment.

Speaking at the event, Director General AFRDI, AVM Pius Oahimire, represented by AVM Albert Bot, described the initiative as a timely, strategic intervention that aligns with the Chief of the Air Staff’s vision for meaningful civil-military partnerships.

He reaffirmed AFRDI’s commitment to national development through innovation and welcomed future collaborations, highlighting the operational AI lab as a key resource hub for academic and technological growth in the region.

The workshop featured a dynamic lecture by Flight Lieutenant Tosy Obinna on the real-world relevance of AI and ML in classroom teaching and curriculum design. DG OSBC, Mrs. Jolaade Igbaroola (represented), lauded the NAF’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to inclusive development.

As the people’s Air Force, the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to fostering a whole-of-society approach to national development through initiatives that empower young minds, strengthen civil-military relations, and drive innovation. By investing in education and technology, the NAF continues to enhance national security not only through air power, but through meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic advancement.
