The National Association of University Students (NAUS), Northwest Zone, has condemned the heinous killing of Sa’id Abdulkadir, a 400-level student of the Federal University Dutsinma, and the kidnap of many students by bandits.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Sunday by the National Vice President, NAUS Northwest Zone, Fatima Kabeer.
Kabeer said the NAUS Northwest Zone stood firm in its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of university students.
The student leader noted that the NAUS Northwest Zone demanded that the university administration conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice within two weeks.
Kabeer said, “This atrocious act is unacceptable and demands immediate attention from the university management, government, and law enforcement agencies.
“We hold the university management directly responsible for failing to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students. The NAUS Northwest Zone demands that the university administration conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice within two weeks.”
The student leader said failure to comply with this ultimatum would lead to a total shutdown of university activities, warning, “We will mobilize our members nationwide to occupy the university campus, disrupt academic activities, and ensure that normalcy is not restored until our demands are met.”
Kabeer called on the government, law enforcement agencies, and the university management to take immediate action to address this incident, ensure justice is served, and provide adequate security measures to prevent future occurrences.
“We will not be intimidated or deterred by any threats or actions taken against us. The NAUS Northwest Zone stands firm in its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of university students,” Kabeer added.
