A team from the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has conducted an inspection of the proposed Heritage College of Education in Owo, Ondo State. The assessment aimed to evaluate the institution’s resources, infrastructure, personnel, and facilities to ensure compliance with the NCCE’s minimum standards.
The team, led by Dr. Abdulrahman Yahaya, included Prof. James Onuh from the University of Jos, Prof. Chinyere Ogbuanya from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Mallam Sirajo Yabo, and Mallam Zailani Umar. Over three days, they thoroughly assessed various facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, libraries, gardens, health and sports centers, and administrative offices.
“We interacted with the college’s workers and reviewed relevant documents to understand the institution’s strengths and areas for improvement,” Yahaya stated, commending the founders’ passion and resilience in their quest to deliver quality education.
Mrs. Olamide Odidiomo, representing the Ondo State Ministry of Education, affirmed the state government’s support for the initiative, pledging that the ministry would monitor compliance with NCCE guidelines upon the college’s approval.
Founder of the proposed institution, Prof. Oladele Akogun, expressed optimism, emphasizing the college’s mission to enhance access to quality education. “We are preparing tomorrow’s educators today. The visit gave us an opportunity to showcase our progress and our commitment to providing the best possible learning experience,” he said.
