The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has distributed 2,480 ULESSON educational tablets to primary and secondary schools across Ondo State.

This landmark initiative, facilitated under the leadership of Hon. Otito Atikase, the Honourable Commissioner representing Ondo State on the NDDC Board, underscores the Commission’s commitment to investing in the future of the Niger Delta through impactful interventions in education and health.

The ULESSON tablets are advanced personal learning devices designed for pupils and students in primary and secondary schools. The tablets come preloaded with educational content and feature offline capabilities, allowing students to learn anytime, anywhere—without the distractions of the internet or social media. The app offers engaging video tutorials, quizzes, and lesson notes aligned with the national curriculum, ensuring that students, especially those in underserved areas, have access to quality education.

Speaking during the distribution, Hon. Atikase highlighted the significance of the programme, stating: “Education remains a key pillar for national development. By providing these devices to our young learners, we are not just giving them tools for academic excellence, but also opening doors to a brighter and more competitive future.”

The initiative has been widely applauded by teachers, parents, and education stakeholders across Ondo State, many of whom described the gesture as timely and impactful, especially in light of the increasing demand for digital learning tools in Nigerian classrooms.

In addition to its education-focused interventions, the NDDC has also extended support to the healthcare sector in the state. Building on the earlier donation of a fully-equipped ambulance, the Commission has now supplied two modern x-ray machines and additional medical equipment to the General Hospital in Igbokoda.

These upgrades aim to strengthen emergency response, diagnostic services, and patient care in the Ilaje Local Government Area and surrounding riverine communities.

Hon. Atikase noted that the donations reflect the Commission’s holistic approach to development: “Health and education are inseparable in the development of any society. We will continue to collaborate with relevant institutions to meet the pressing needs of our people.”

The people of Ondo State, particularly residents of hard-to-reach areas, have expressed deep appreciation to the NDDC and Hon. Atikase for these interventions. Many community members hailed the gestures as steps in the right direction toward inclusive development and responsive representation.

With impactful, people-centered initiatives like these, the NDDC continues to demonstrate its commitment to uplifting communities, empowering future generations, and leaving a lasting legacy of service across the Niger Delta.
