The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the opening of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session. The portal will be accessible from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
According to NELFUND, the initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to expand access to higher education and ensure that no student is denied learning opportunities due to financial limitations.
The agency called on tertiary institutions across the country to update and upload verified records of returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal. This process, it said, is a prerequisite for students to complete their loan applications successfully.
NELFUND also advised institutions to show flexibility in enforcing registration and tuition deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement. Fresh students can apply using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number.
Institutions yet to commence their 2025/2026 academic calendar are expected to formally notify NELFUND and submit their approved schedules for proper coordination.
The Fund appealed to schools to allow temporary registration for students whose loan applications are in process, stressing that financial barriers should not hinder access to education.
For more information, NELFUND directed students and institutions to visit its website, www.nelf.gov.ng, or contact the agency through its official social media platforms.
