New dawn as JUPEB commissions executive lodge

For the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB), Monday, April 29, 2024 will remain indelible in its history as the day of the official commissioning of the newly constructed JUPEB Executive Lodge located at 24, Mc. Neil Road, Off Montgomery Road, Sabo, Yaba.

The Commissioning of the 3-Storey Edifice was witnessed by JUPEB Governing Board, representatives of JUPEB member universities as well as JUPEB staff led by the Registrar/CEO, Professor Wale Okunuga, among others.

In her remarks at the event, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos and Chairperson, JUPEB Governing Board, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, who was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu, described the edifice as a testament of the deep sense of purpose, commitment to growth and development, diligence and prudence from all JUPEB stakeholders.

While commending the JUPEB Registrar/CEO for successfully completing the project, the UNILAG Vice-Chancellor added that the infrastructure would herald a more enduring partnership among all member universities.

In his remarks, Registrar/CEO, Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB), Prof. Wale Okunuga said the JUPEB Executive Lodge project was initiated as a way of ploughing the profits made by the examination body into worthwhile investments while also ensuring that staff of member-universities have access to befitting accommodation during assignments in Lagos.

Prof. Okunuga appreciated members of the JUPEB Governing Board for their faith and commitment to the project despite challenges, and assured of proper utilization of the project.

There were remarks from the Vice-Chancellor, University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo; Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Professor Adenike Oladiji and representatives of other JUPEB member-universities. They all applauded the JUPEB Registrar, his team and the contractor for a job well done.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the commissioning of the new executive lodge by Professor Lucian Chukwu, representative of UNILAG Vice-Chancellor and Chairperson, JUPEB Governing Board, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS. He was accompanied by members of UNILAG Management team including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde, Bursar, Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Adekunle and Librarian, Professor Yetunde Zaid.
It would be recalled that the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG and former Chairman, Governing Board of JUPEB, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, had, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, performed the official turning of the sod for the 3-storey building.

The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) is a national examination body approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in December 2013. It was formally established in April 2014 by a consortium of ten (10) partnering universities, led by the University of Lagos.
