According to a report, the students were expelled for examination malpractice and other related offences.

The institution equally withdrew 185 students for poor academic performance in the Second Semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Session.

Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the Polytechnic, Mrs Uredo Omale, disclosed this in a statement on Friday December 16, 2022.

Omale noted that the decision was sequel to the approval by the Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, led by its Chairman, Dr Salisu Ogbo, who doubles as the Rector of the institution.

The affected students are from National Diploma I and High National Diploma I.

The decision to evict the embattled students was reached at the 13th emergency meeting of the Board held on Tuesday, 13th December, 2022.

Other decisions reached by the academic board, according to the institution’s spokesperson, also included the exoneration of two students.

While two students were warned, three students are to be rusticated for one semester. Seventeen students were asked to carry over their courses.
