Nigerian students’ top list of eligible voters according to data sources from the independent national electoral commission ahead of the general elections.
Statistics accessible to Edugist have shown that out of the 93.46 million eligible voters Nigerian students top the list with 26.02 million.
According to the data obtained, topping the list is Nigerian students at 26.80 per cent followed by farmers at 15.80 per cent , housewives at 13.90 per cent , business class at 13.30 per cent , traders at 8.60 per cent , civil servants at 5.70 per cent , public servants at 2.50 per cent , and others at 7.10 per cent .
A Netizen who shared the data survey said “Quietly and earnestly hoping that greatest Nigerian students can harness the power of their numbers and pull out crucial far-corner screamers on Saturday.”
A renowned educator who spoke with our correspondent believes that Nigerian students are a major player in the election and the numbers have shown that young people are becoming politically conscious, especially students.
“Look at the statistics it doesn’t lie, we have a youthful population and I am happy that they are all students, I just hope that they can leverage this chance as a major player and decider.”
