The Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) has awarded scholarships worth over N200 million to exceptional students nationwide.

The scholarships were presented at the 22nd National Mathematics Competition (ANMC), organised by NTIC, in collaboration with the National Mathematical Centre (NMC).

The event was an opportunity to reward brilliant and top-performing students from primary and junior secondary school categories, while winners, along with their schools and teachers, received tuition discounts, cash rewards and educational gadgets.

Fifty-two students from primary and junior secondary categories were recognised for their exceptional performance in mathematics, while over 50 others received scholarships and cash prizes.

In the primary category, Shedrack Udeh Jr. of Diamond Special School, Imo State, won the gold medal; Olasehinde Darasimi of Genius Tonic Heights, Ondo State, won silver, while Ifeanyi Einstein from Pleroma International School, Rivers State, secured the bronze medal.

In the junior secondary category, Kaetochukwu Uzoewulu of Hillrange Secondary School, Enugu, won silver, while Eghosa James of Beacon of Success School, Edo State, earned the bronze medal.

Mamman Jamaladeen Tahir, an Air Force Secondary School student, Shasha, Lagos, clinched the top prize in the junior secondary category, beating over 10,000 participants from more than 30 states.

Tahir attributed his success to late-night study sessions, prayer, and strong family support.
“Sometimes, I stayed up till 1 a.m. to study. I just kept pushing and trusted God,” he said.

Winners were rewarded with cash prizes ranging from N100,000 to N500,000 and partial and full scholarships.

Teachers and schools of top-performing students were also not left out, as they received cash rewards of between N100,000 and N400,000 and teaching and learning tools.

According to NTIC’s Managing Director, Fevzullah Bilgin, the initiative demonstrates NTIC’s unwavering commitment to nation-building through education.

With nearly 90 students benefiting from the NTIC-ANMC full scholarship scheme, Bilgin disclosed that over N600 million is expended yearly in scholarships and competitions.

“While N500 million goes into full scholarships for over 100 winners, N100 million funds the nationwide competition,” he stated.

“The ANMC is not just a contest, it’s a platform to give back. We want to inspire a lifelong love for mathematics and support children who could change the country through knowledge and innovation,” Bilgin stated.

He restated the school’s commitment to nurturing talents in mathematics, which he described as fundamental to intellectual growth and national development.

Director of NMC, Prof. Promise Mebine, described the collaboration with NTIC as a symbiotic partnership that enhances mathematics education nationwide.

Represented by Prof. Solomon Ojo, Head of Olympiad Unit at NMC, Mbeine said the centre has set a new standard for mathematics competitions in the country.

Also speaking, ANMC Coordinator, Erdal Yilmaz, said the competition plays a vital role in discovering academic talents.

“These young minds represent the remarkable potential within our nation, and NTIC remains committed to offering opportunities that challenge and elevate students academically,” Yilmaz said.
