NUC accredits 7 courses for private university in Lokoja

National Universities Commission (NUC) has fully accredited seven academic programmes for a private university located in Lokoja, Kogi state. The full accreditation by the NUC came as a cheering news to the management, staff and students of Salem University, which needed the accreditation to continue to operate as a full-fledged university.

In an announcement made to newsmen in Lokoja, Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, expressed his elation and gratitude to God, saying that the accreditation came as a result of the NUC’s organised accreditation visit to their academic programs in November/December.

The seven fully accredited programmes are Computer Science, Information Technology, Geology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and MSc/MBA Business Administration. With this accreditation, the institution can admit more students in the 2022/2023 academic year, whose admission is still open.

Johnson-Akubo added that with the infrastructural development in the school, it now has what it takes to admit more students. He attributed the success to the impressive and encouraging leadership qualities of the Chancellor of the University, Archbishop Sam Amaga, who has been driving the university to greater heights.

The accreditation is a significant milestone for Salem University, Lokoja, as it indicates that the institution has met the NUC’s rigorous academic standards. The news of the accreditation has been received with excitement and joy by the entire Salem University community, as it will boost the institution’s reputation and attract more students and staff.

The accreditation is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the staff and management of the institution to academic excellence, the VC said.
