NUC boss resigns set to resume as BUK lecturer

In the early hours of today, the executive secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed has announced his voluntary resignation and make plans on resuming his job as a lecturer.

This was made known by Rasheed during an emergency meeting,noting that, he would be returning to the Bayero University Kano to continue his job as a lecturer.

Recall that Rasheed was appointed as the NUC boss seven years ago during the tenure of the erstwhile minister of education, Adamu Adamu. Under his tenure as NUC executive secretary, the commission approved the highest number of private universities.

The university system also witnessed the highest number of industrial actions.

However, According to the commision, the
deputy executive secretary,Christopher Maiyaki will take over the position pending appointment of a new executive secretary.
