Forged Certificates: NYSC Expresses Concern among Youth

NYSC has expressed concern over Forged certificates among youth.

In reaction to the continuous rise in the case of forged results and certificates, the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has expressed his concern over the trend of youth bringing fake certificates to the NYSC camp.

Speaking on Wednesday, 5th February, 2020 at the Batch ‘A’ pre-mobilisation workshop in Asaba, he expressed,

“I wish to draw stakeholders’ attention to the emerging trend among youth who try to cut corners by going to foreign countries. Especially in the West African sub-region to buy certificates for a course they never attended.

“Some of them had been audacious enough as to attempt presenting themselves for mobilisation for national service

“We have apprehended many and they confessed to securing the academic credentials fraudulently.”

The DG informed that the workshop in Delta State was an avenue for the NYSC management and other stakeholders to review issues in the mobilisation process. He said this was in order to ensure continuous improvement.

Opening the workshop, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa assured the NYSC management of his commitment to the scheme in terms of security, welfare of corps members among others.

Okowa, who was represented at the workshop by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, lauded the effort of the NYSC DG for his fight against forged certificates.
