In a bid to reiterate its commitment to the eradication of sexual immorality among the staff of the institution, management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has handed one of its lecturers over to the police.

The management disclosed on Wednesday 5th February, 2020 that the lecturer, Monday Omo-Etan, was handed over to police for assaulting a 19-year-old student.

The institution also disclosed that the decision was made in order to give room for further investigation.

Speaking about the incident, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, added that, “Less than three weeks after the Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, expressed its zero tolerance against sexual harassment by investigating and suspending a lecturer of the Department of International Relations, Mr Olabisi Olaleye, the university has suspended a worker of the OAU Centre for Distance Learning for sexually molesting a 19-year-old female student.”
