In a country where personal survival often overshadows public service, Folahan Olayiwola, former Students’ Union president of Obafemi Awolowo University, has offered a refreshing counter-narrative.
Instead of spending his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) allowance on himself — as most would — he donated the entire ₦640,000 to a public hospital in Abeokuta.
With the funds, Olayiwola purchased three wheelchairs and four pairs of crutches for the Federal Medical Centre in Ogun State — a gesture both rare and deeply symbolic.
This wasn’t a PR stunt. It wasn’t about recognition or reward. It was a clear, quiet statement: leadership is about impact, not income.
At a time when integrity feels like an endangered value, Olayiwola has shown that it’s still possible to serve with heart — even when you have little. His action speaks louder than any campaign slogan or political speech: real change begins when we stop waiting and start giving.
This is not just a donation — it’s a challenge to a generation.
